Tarrytown, NY - (July 16, 2007) - Datacap, the leading provider of flexible document capture and forms processing software solutions, announced that it has reached a milestone in its 2008 Cycle Faster charitable fund raising program and to commemorate the occasion, the company has contributed $5,000 to the Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing on behalf of Cycle Faster 2008. The Horace Mann School in Boston trains deaf and hard of hearing high school students for careers in imaging and ECM.
Datacap's Cycle Faster program, which kicked off its fourth year at the AIIM Expo on March 3, brings together the primary companies of the scanning and enterprise content management (ECM) industry to raise money for worthy causes, including the Lance Armstrong Foundation. So far, more than $21,000 in donations has been raised. The 2008 gift was presented to the Horace Mann School on July 14 at the annual golf benefit AIIM New England holds for the school in Watertown, Massachusetts.
"We're off to a solid start in fundraising for Cycle Faster this year, and we are grateful for the commitment that each participating company has given the program," says Scott Blau, Datacap CEO. "Our goal to raise $100,000 is ambitious, but within our reach, and the money will be well spent helping cancer survivors and students at Horace Mann lead happier, more fulfilling lives."
"Cycle time" in the ECM Industry refers to document processing time, an important measure of savings and productivity. Each Cycle Faster sponsor has the right to compete in cycling time trials on the AIIM Expo floor, racing on a grueling one-mile virtual course to become the "Fastest Man," "Fastest Woman," and "Fastest Team." This year, Tom Lewis of Atalasoft won the "Fastest Man," Sabrina Stratford of Captaris was the "Fastest Woman," and the "Fastest Team" was Visioneer.
In 2008, Cycle Faster industry sponsors include: ABBYY, AIIM, Atalasoft, Bowe Bell & Howell, Canon, Captaris, Content Analyst, DocuWare, EMC Captiva, Fujitsu, Kodak, Panasonic, Parascript, Snowbound, Vignette, and Visioneer.
Each year, since 2005, Datacap has created custom cycling jerseys featuring the logos of Cycle Faster sponsors. These pro-cut jerseys are made of technological fibers that remove perspiration and keep the body cool while riding. They feature bright colors which are easy to see on the road, have 3/4 length front zippers that make it easy for riders to adjust for comfort, and have three rear pockets to hold keys, wallets and water bottles.
To help achieve its 2008 fundraising goal, Datacap is offering limited edition custom cycling jerseys for sale on eBay at: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcyclefaster2008.
