Datacap Releases FastDoc Capture

Tarrytown, NY, December 1, 2009 – Datacap Inc., a pioneer in enterprise data and document capture software solutions, today announced the General Availability of FastDoc Capture, a new client-only solution for automated indexing that brings unprecedented levels of simplicity to recognition-assisted capture.

FastDoc Capture combines scanning, document separation and identification, OCR recognition, automated validations, a sleek and intuitive verification panel, and tight integration to SharePoint or a universal output format for any ECM system. All with no complicated set-up or custom programming required. FastDoc Capture can be installed, configured, and scanning documents within a matter of minutes. With an entry-level price point, FastDoc Capture brings the power of enterprise batch capture to departments, work groups, small and midsized organizations and special back file conversion projects.

Karen Grzankowski, Document Imaging Specialist for Erie County Social Services in Buffalo, NY, a longtime Datacap customer, was one of the first users to try out FastDoc Capture. “We tend to be very compartmentalized here, so this is useful because it is such a standalone product and its configuration settings are for that machine only. When there's only a limited number of users, it's kind of nice to know all of the configuration is on that machine and won't interfere with anyone else’s shared settings.”

Datacap developed FastDoc Capture with significant input from customers like Erie County and imaging resellers, such as Torrential Data of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Brad Bimson, president of Torrential Data, commented that FastDoc Capture is much easier to install and set up than other capture products he’s tested. “And FastDoc Capture works extremely well for structured documents,” he said.

FastDoc Capture augments Datacap’s flagship data and document capture product Taskmaster, which offers a much broader spectrum of capture functionality. The award-winning Taskmaster is used by Fortune 1000 organizations and government agencies for robust, flexible forms processing and automated indexing. FastDoc Capture will open new markets for Datacap and attract new imaging resellers, who may not be looking for an advanced capture product.

Datacap has created a FastDoc Capture Solution Provider Program, which is separate from the Taskmaster Partner Program. “FastDoc Capture is a product well suited for organizations with limited technical resources, or who are just getting into document automation, and want a product that’s easy to install and support,” said Bob Lastorka, Datacap’s Director of Business and Channel Development. “There is also considerable interest in FastDoc Capture as an OEM product.”

Datacap offers complete technical support FastDoc Capture via online, e-mail or telephone. Once FastDoc is purchased, users view a few short online training videos to get started. Datacap also provides comprehensive documentation on every aspect of using or administering a system. “The training videos were helpful getting me started and the documentation very helpful,” commented Karen Grzankowski of Erie County.
