Datacap Enhances Medical Claims Processing Software

Tarrytown, NY - March 1, 2005 - Datacap today announced the availability of Taskmaster for Medical Claims 6.2. Formerly known as the Health Claims Capture System, Taskmaster for Medical Claims automates the data entry of HCFA 1500 and UB-92 medical claims. Customers, including HMO’s, Blue Cross Blue Shield organizations, Preferred Providers and Third Party Administrators, benefit with improved data accuracy, reduced data entry cost and reduced process cycle time. Taskmaster For Medical Claims features an enhanced rules-based architecture, providing users with complete control over the full capture process - from scanning and recognition to validations and export.

Rules Add Flexibility with Ease

Taskmaster for Medical Claims now contains a library with hundreds of "rules" - predefined sets of actions - that control every step in the capture process. Datacap has also developed rules that are specific to the medical claims application.

Taskmaster rules are made up of individual "actions." Although a user can assemble these actions into Rules via the RuleManager user interface, each action is actually a Microsoft VBScript function. That means an administrator or business analyst can add and change rules in Taskmaster for Medical Claims, without any programming!

Enhancements to Taskmaster for Medical Claims include:

• Integrated business rules via the Datacap Open Rules architecture. Business rules are set up in RuleManager and execute in the RuleRunner task
• Expanded rules processing, including rules for image processing, page identification, recognition and export formatting
• Enhanced black claim support. Using Datacap's "fingerprint" identification system, Taskmaster for Medical Claims identifies the claim formats that are being received and then precisely locates the data on that page.Rules-driven image processing selectively removes the background lines to prepare for the actual recognition.
• Performance improvements now enable a single station to process more than 15,000 claims a day
• New user interface interactively triggers the same rules that are run by RuleRunner to validate data, contributing to higher accuracy and better productivity
• Browser-based data entry option. All validation rules that run from the standard interface, also work in the browser so there is no additional management overhead when distributing work

Enhancements in Taskmaster for Medical Claims also extend the ability to control the interface for data verifiers, which is a significant benefit to customers, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ).
