Datacap, Canon and TAWPI Sponsor User Survey on Distributed Capture

Tarrytown, NY – August 9, 2005 - Datacap Inc. announced today that it has partnered with Canon U.S.A, Inc. and The Association For Work Process Improvement (TAWPI) to conduct the industry’s first customer data-driven survey exclusively focused on distributed capture benefits, success factors and barriers. The survey will be distributed to more than 50,000 imaging, document management, IT and Operations professionals worldwide beginning August 9 and concluding August 23, 2005.

Survey results will be analyzed and interpreted by Power Decisions Group, a marketing research firm based in San Francisco. The survey results will be presented in a special report, published in September 2005. Datacap, Canon and TAWPI will also sponsor a webinar in September to present findings from the report. The finished report will be made available to the press and analyst community and all survey participants free of charge. According to Harvey Spencer of Harvey Spencer Associates, the high volume distributed capture market is growing in excess of 18% annually. The goal of the study is to identify the key factors driving organizations to distribute scanning and other capture functions across their facilities, partner networks or customers. The survey was designed to encompass both those who have already embarked on a distributed capture strategy as well as those who are examining its feasibility. "Additional customer research is a ‘good thing’ and will only benefit end-users in understanding and best meeting their distributed capture needs," said Harvey Spencer, industry analyst and sponsor of the upcoming capture conference, Document Capture 2005.
