Datacap Releases Taskmaster 7.5 Service Pack 1

  Newest Version of Capture Software Offers Many Improvements

In keeping with our goal of constantly improving our industry-leading capture solution, we are happy to announce that Taskmaster 7.5 SP1 is now shipping. Taskmaster 7.5 SP1 contains corrections to user reported issues and substantial enhancements to our overall recognition capability, Datacap Studio, Datacap Studio Application Wizard, the Taskmaster APT invoice application, and much more.

Highlights of the release:

• The ABBYY FineReader engine (version 8.1) is now provided as part of Taskmaster's Standard Recognition Actions - All customers with maintenance who request Taskmaster 7.5 SP1 and subsequent versions will receive the ABBYY engine free of charge. (NOTE: The option for a free upgrade to the ABBYY engine is only good for upgrades requested and fulfilled before Dec. 31, 2009. After that date, there will be an additional licensing fee.)
• The existing Nuance (ScanSoft) recognition engine has been upgraded to version 16
• Datacap is now licensing the Open Text RecoStar Professional 100 and 250 characters per second (cps) and the Full Page Reader ICR/C handprint voting engines, which uses two different recognizers internally to provide voting for increased recognition accuracy
• Enhancements to Datacap Studio include editing of rules by multiple users and consolidated OMR zone properties in the OMR tab
• The Datacap Studio Design Wizard may be used to copy Taskmaster Web applications and supports usage of UNC (Uniform Naming Convention) paths
• Taskmaster Web supports the load balancing appliances offered by F5 Networks, Inc.
• Buttons with attached rules can be added to Verify screens
• Non-TIF files can be imported via VScan
• The Web version of Taskmaster APT has an improved look and now presents detail lines one by one as is done in the thick-client Windows version
• Outlook e-mail notification for delete, rescan and review are now supported

FastDoc Capture Well Received At AIIM

Datacap Previewed Product To Press and Attendees

FastDoc Capture is the new entry-level capture solution that uses recognition to automate indexing, but requires no set-up. The annual AIIM Expo seemed like an excellent environment to show scanner partners, Channel partners and potential users what FastDoc Capture is all about.

Designed with ease of use and simplicity in mind, FastDoc Capture boasts a sleek new interface, an easy way add new documents and index fields, and tight integration with Microsoft SharePoint.

In her AIIM Wrap-up, Vicki Amendola of ECM Connection wrote:"Datacap's exhibit made it impossible to miss the vendor's introduction of FastDoc Capture, a new software release that combines indexing automation with character recognition and user-friendliness, all at a comparatively low price point. According to David Jenness, marketing director for Datacap, FastDoc Capture is due to release soon, and offers an entry-level solution offering rules-based validations and out-of-the-box SharePoint integration."

 EXEL TRANSPORTATION Featured in Integrated Solutions Magazine

 Transportation Services Company Cut Invoice Processing Time in Half With Taskmaster

Integrated Solutions magazine is a monthly publication that focuses on ECM solutions, presenting stories about users who represent best practices in their industries. The April 2009 issue presents Exel Transportation Services (ETS), implemented Datacap Taskmaster for Invoices two years ago and has seen significant benefits to its operations as a result.

In 2006, the company was entering data manually from 6000 invoices a day. Benchmarking statistics showed that it took 10 days to fully process an invoice at a significant cost. Seeking a way to streamline its process, ETS evaluated capture solutions and selected Datacap Taskmaster for Invoices.

Datacap VAR Torrential Data of Virginia Beach, VA managed the implementation process along with two KODAK i600 scanners in 2007. Since then, ETS has cut the cycle time to five days, with less manual labor, and its capturing more data off each invoice than previously, which has made payments more efficient.
