The Capture Hippocratic Oath: Capture No Evil!
Medical Doctors pledge never to harm their patients. Responsible Document Capture practitioners have a similar commitment: ensure that every image and its associated index values are 100% valid at the end of the process.
Corrupt, invalid output from the capture system is a bummer for everyone. It messes up downstream systems that are counting on "clean" [...]

Feeling Free In Philadelphia (Thoughts From AIIM 2010)
It was a beautiful spring evening in Philadelphia and Datacap CEO Scott Blau and I were walking the streets talking about politics and revolution. As we neared our hotel, we stopped next to Ben Franklin's grave and there was a palpable sense of connection. He had been walking these very same streets 250 years ago, [...]

What's In A Name? The Universal Enterprise Content Capture Portal Thingy
Initially, I had trouble with the name "Universal Capture Portal." And that was a problem, because I had to write an "executive opinion" piece about such a beast. I have two basic requirements for a gadget to be [...]

The Digital Mailroom Is Dead
Datacap CEO Scott Blau delivers an 8-page Executive Insight on the changes in Enterprise Content Capture. Once, putting a scanner in the mailroom to scan every incoming document was considered the "Holy Grail" of capture. Mr. Blau argues that those days are over. He points to the rapidly increasing use of email as a source of incoming documents - either within the email or as an attachment. Organizations today, he says, need a universal capture portal, which can import not only scanned and faxed document images, but, emails as well as Excel, Word, PDF, and Zipped files. Something that Taskmaster can do today.
