Datacap to Debut FastDoc Capture At AIIM

Fast Scanning Solution Promises OCR Indexing with no set-up

Datacap will unveil a brand new capture product at the annual AIIM Expo, designed to offer scanning and recognition-assisted indexing with no programming required. Called FastDoc Capture, it is ideal for indexing applications with mixed documents.

FastDoc Capture boasts an attractive interface, which makes scanning and document separation quick and efficient. It uses Datacap's Dynamic Natural Analysis (DNA) technology for data location, which creates Fingerprints on the fly to store new layouts for future use. This single feature makes FastDoc Capture unlike any entry-level capture system available.

OCR recognition will be standard in FastDoc Capture, which will support some automated data validations, and at the end of the capture process, the new product will release images and index data in XML, csv, SharePoint and OnBase formatting.

Like Taskmaster, FastDoc Capture is built with Client-Server architecture. It can run as a stand-alone system on a single PC, or on the network. FastDoc Capture will offer the essentials for document capture, but it wasn't designed for the traditional Taskmaster user, who is typically leveraging sophisticated workflows and capturing multiple data types with complex business rules.

"FastDoc Capture will open new markets for Datacap," predicts Scott Blau, Datacap CEO. "Our channel partners have been requesting an entry-level capture solution that is less complex than Taskmaster, yet still delivers the basic document capture functions. Customers who invest in FastDoc Capture, then decide they want to add more features and functions, will be able to easily migrate to a full-function Taskmaster application."

If you're planning to attend the annual AIIM Expo in Philadelphia this year (March 30 - April 2), stop by the Datacap booth (1252) and get the first glimpse of FastDoc Capture.

New Recorded Webinar – Working With Datacap Studio

Datacap’s Michael Schlachter recently recorded a 52-minute instructional Webinar on “Working With Datacap Studio” for partners and customers. If you understand how Datacap Reusable Rules control the workflow in Taskmaster, and you have worked with Datacap Rule Manager, then this webinar might be quite helpful, especially for organizations upgrading to Taskmaster 7.5.

No matter what your application, Datacap Studio enables complete set-up and testing of Rulerunner service workflows for Datacap RRX files. It is a more robust interface than Rule Manager and offers much more functionality.

To access a free copy of the recording, send an e-mail to marketing@datacap.com and we’ll send you the URL.

The agenda includes:

  • Creating a document hierarchy
  • Configuring Datacap Reusable Rules
  • Creating new rules
  • Testing rules in an application
  • Creating Task Profiles
  • Creating and maintaining Fingerprints
  • Working with image enhancement settings

The only requirements are a working knowledge of Rule Manager. If you are not already familiar with Datacap Reusable Rules and Rule Manager, this highly technical presentation is not for you.

Tom Stuart Named Vice President of Solutions

Architect of Succesful Capture Solutions

After 12 years with Datacap, Tom Stuart has been promoted to Vice President of Solutions. As the leading applications developer for Datacap, Tom has designed many of the innovative features in Taskmaster that have set Datacap apart. As data and document capture has evolved, Tom has consistently leveraged new technologies to institute new features and functions for customers such as Dow Jones, Georgia-Pacific, Keuhne + Nagel, and Virginia Tax, among many others.

Among the many contributions Tom has made to Datacap is the development of Taskmaster APT (previously called Taskmaster for Invoices), Datacap’s data entry automation solution for Accounts Payable documents. Tom helped refine a solution for the major problem in invoice capture: how to locate data on documents with variable layouts and how to record data locations for future use. Tom devised a way to make data location dynamic and dubbed the process "Dynamic Natural Analysis" (DNA) – and it has become the basis for Datacap’s strategy for capturing unstructured documents.

Tom has recently helped shape a new image indexing solution that uses DNA technology to “remember” the location of index data on variable documents. Known as FastDoc Capture, this new solution presents scan and index solutions for shipping, healthcare, financial and government documents.

FastDoc Capture delivers all the benefits of robust, recognition-assisted document capture with no programming required. A data entry operator begins scanning and the system learns on the fly. Fast Doc Capture will debut at this year’s AIIM Exposition.

“Tom’s ability to combine customer input and innovation is one of the reasons that Taskmaster has remained at the forefront of the capture industry,” said Scott Blau, Datacap CEO. “He has spent much of his career at Datacap helping us master tough challenges, while delivering applications that meet real business objectives."

Many Datacap customers and channel partners know Tom from his regular Taskmaster training sessions and his always-crowded presentations at the annual Datacap user conference.

Prior to joining Datacap, Tom was Staff Development Manager at Datastorm Technologies in Columbia, MO. A superb communicator, Tom combines his knowledge of technology with his experience as an educator.

Datacap Taskmaster APT QuickDemo For Your Review

See How APT Can Save Your AP Department Time and Money!

Invite Datacap product marketing manager Tom Simalchik onto your computer for a few minutes and have a look at the new Taskmaster APT.  This 16-minute Quick Demo presents the full invoice capture life cycle, from scanning to recognition to verification to export.

In the demonstration, Tom scans a batch of invoices, including one never before seen by Taskmaster APT. He shows how Taskmaster APT automates the vendor identification, locates the required data, and populates the fields, using OCR and Datacap's unique DNA technology.

The demo shows the verify screen, which offers AP departments more features than ever before.  You'll see how Taskmaster APT handles the new layout as well as how how Taskmaster APT captures all detail lines, for organizations that use that line item data for reconciliation.

Finally, Tom follows the data after it has been exported to Microsoft SharePoint to demonstrate how easy it is to transform paper invoices into digital data with Taskmaster APT.
