Technology News Task Master ENU Automates Batch Monitoring Reports

Now Your Capture System Can Talk To You

Ever sign off on a note or email by saying, “Keep me posted?”  That's what our new Task Master Enhanced Notification Utility (ENU) can do for you.  It notifies administrators and supervisors when any condition of interest arises. That's handy, because it means that you don't need to keep an eye on the Job Monitor, walk over to the server room to check computers, or comb through voluminous reports to make sure everything is humming along in your Datacap system.

Like much of Datacap's new technologies, ENU is rules-based.  Rules can peer into the Task Master database and then fire off emails, pager messages, or other notifications when it sees a potential problem.  Because ENU uses VB Script rules just like our new recognition systems, rules are easily modified or created to do what you need.

For example, would you like to know if a background processing, recognition station stops processing when it happens or the next day when verifiers wonder why they don't have any work?  ENU rules can keep an eye on the recognition processing and let you know as soon as it detects a problem.

What about the occasional batch that goes to the rescan queue?  Rather than tying yourself to the Job Monitor, let ENU shoot you an email when a batch arrives!

The rules can be set up and tested interactively whenever you want.  But the real power of ENU is unleashed by combining ENU with Windows Scheduler. Have it run every hour to check the system, saving you the bother.  You'll get an email or page if there's a problem, so you can concentrate on more important things.

Adam Blanton, an I.T. consultant for Central Coast Alliance for Health (CCAH), a health insurance payer in Santa Cruz California, has been using Task Master ENU to monitor the status of batches flowing through the Datacap Health Claims capture system (HCcs). “It’s an excellent monitoring tool,” he said.  “It allows us to keep track of the status of batches, without having to manually generate reports.”

CCAH and Blanton developed a list of scenarios, which would indicate a problem within the workflow.  Situations include batches that have aborted or are stuck at one point in the workflow and are no longer advancing.

Using the standard rules built in to Task Master ENU, Blanton set up a series of batch monitoring actions.  Then, using Windows Scheduler, he configured them to check the system every two hours and alert him to possible problems via e-mail.  “I have it set up to notify me of the system status via e-mail every two hours.  I can act immediately if a problem comes up, so we don't lose valuable processing time because a problems we are unaware of."

Channel News 2004 Brings New Channel Marketing Tools

A Happy New Year Indeed!

Since joining Datacap in July, Channel Manager Jerry Moses has been racking up the frequent flyer miles, meeting with Datacap Solution Providers, visiting installations and listening to both resellers and customers. Based on all he learned, he has put together several initiatives for 2004, which include such new resources for resellers as:

Channel Website – This spring, look for a new password-protected website focused on the needs of Datacap Resellers, with sales literature, marketing materials, updated pricing and SKUs, latest technical information and lead tracking.

Channel Newsletter – Also new will be a quarterly e-mail newsletter that presents all the news that Datacap resellers need to know to succeed in capture.

New Sales and Product Training – Following Datacap’s introduction of the new Taskmaster product line at AIIM this year, look for new Sales and Product Training, designed to help resellers configure and price, implement and maintain, and thoroughly understand how Datacap capture solutions can help them win business.

Sales Incentive Programs – Datacap will be launching a series of exciting contests specifically for reseller sales people.  All we can say at this time is make sure your passports are up to date!

“Datacap has aggressive goals for sales through the Channel in 2004,” says Jerry. “To that end, we are putting in place more resources to help resellers win with Datacap.

Customer News – Sharp HealthCare Goes Live With Datacap HCcs

California Health Organization Automates Claim Processing

In mid December, Sharp HealthCare, an integrated, regional health care delivery system based in San Diego, California, went “live” with the Datacap Health Claims capture system (HCcs) to automate processing of HCFA and UB-92 health claims and other documents.  The system, which was implemented by Datacap Solution Provider Knowledge Lake of St. Louis, enables the data entry of nearly 7,000 HCFA and UB-92 health claims, plus approximately 2,000 pieces of member correspondence per day.

“The Datacap implementation went very smoothly,” said Cathy Fuhrman of Fuhrman & Associates, the consulting firm that advised Sharp during the selection and implementation phase.  “Knowledge Lake was great to work with.  After only one month, users are rating the success of the implementation at an 8 (out of 10), which is fantastic."

In future implementations, Sharp will take advantage of the Datacap scanning solution for its provider-side services.  For example, in 2004, all encounter forms generated by Sharp's hospitals will be routed through the Datacap HCcs system.
