Datacap at AIIM 2008
Cycling and Classifying in Boston
Every year, the major ECM event is
the Association for Image and Information Management (AIIM) Expo. Held at the
Boston Convention Center, March 4, 5 6, the show features most of Datacap's
technology partners, many Channel Partners as well as the press and analyst
community.
This year, Datacap (Booth 2539) will be showing
Wordfire Classify, the new solution for automated Document ID
with text analytics, as well as a brand new feature of Taskmaster called
"FlexIndex," which enables automated indexing of documents with no set-up
required. If you're attending AIIM, please make time to visit Datacap and see
these two breakthrough solutions.
Raising Funds For Lance Armstrong and Horace Mann
AIIM is also the venue where "Cycle Faster," Datacap's
annual program to raise funds for important causes, will pit scanner
manufacturers, ECM vendors and recognition partners against each other in a
time trial to determine the Fastest Man, the Fastest Woman, and the Fastest
Team. All winners will have funds donated to the Lance Armstrong Foundation
or the Horace Mann School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in
their company's name.
Joining Datacap and AIIM in 2008 are sponsors Fujitsu,
Content Analyst, Kodak, Panasonic, Bowe Bell + Howell, Canon, Captaris,
Parascript, DocuWare, Snowbound, EMC Captiva, Visioneer, and Vignette.
Each will not only compete in the 1 mile bike race at AIIM, but the
organization that raises the most pledges for LAF throughout the year will be
rewarded with a $900 Gift Certificate from International Bike in
Boston.
"Winning is about heart - Not just legs" - Lance Armstrong
Visit the new "Cycle Faster" website to see pictures, videos
and stories of how "Cycle Faster" is showing the "Heart" of the scanning and
ECM industry http://cyclefaster.datacap.com.
Organizations and individuals can participate in a
number of ways, including sponsorships, riding at AIIM or simply by making a
donation. Our goal this year for LAF is to raise $100,000. If everyone makes a
small donation, we'll get there!
Datacap Celebrates Record Year By Honoring Customers and Resellers
Capture Comes of Age
2007 was a year of substantial growth and success for Datacap
and we owe it all to our demanding customers and our very capable Channel
Partners. In recognition, we salute five customers and five resellers who
helped make 2007 a year to remember. Awards were presented at the annual
Datacap User Conference, held at the Tarrytown House in autumn 2007.
Read about the Conference and see photos here.
Better yet, see a 4 minute highlights
video, which features Datacap customers talking about their
experiences. You can also catch a few minutes of Datacap Conference headliner
Joey Gay's comedy act ("Last Comic Standing") with footage provided by Steve
Emrick.
2007 Capture Excellence Awards
Datacap customers who combine vision with persistence help push the boundaries
of what is possible. Demanding users help extend Taskmaster's features
and functions to benefit Datacap's entire end-user community. To celebrate our
most successful year yet, Datacap has awarded five customers the second annual
Datacap Capture Excellence Awards.
"Datacap salutes the 2007 Capture Excellence winners for demonstrating
innovation and strategic use of Taskmaster within their organizations," said
Scott Blau, Datacap CEO. "This year's award winners have all pushed the
boundaries of Taskmaster to expand the value of their investments."
The 2007 Capture Excellence awardees include:
Excellence in Medical Claims: Capital Blue Cross
With more than 2,000 employees serving Central Pennsylvania and the Lehigh
Valley, Capital Blue Cross, a non-profit health insurer for
Pennsylvania, is one of the largest employers in that area. The deployment of
Datacap Taskmaster for Medical Claims integrated with Global 360 Imaging and
Workflow for NT solution has enabled Capital to fully automate and streamline
its entire medical claims processing system across all offices. To increase
adminstrator control, all claim verify operators now view claim data through a
browser, using Taskmaster Web. In 2007, Capital Blue Cross upgraded to
Taskmaster 7, with full rules control over the capture process.
Excellence in Invoices: Exel Transportation
Exel Transportation Services (ETS), an operating company of
Exel Supply Chain Services, is part of the Contract Logistics Division of
Deutsche Post World Net. ETS provides third-party transportation solutions for
the Supply Chain Market via its network of more than 70 independent brokerage
offices. In 2007, working with Datacap partner Torrential Data, ETS implemented
Taskmaster for Invoices to capture carrier invoice images and support backup
documentation, including Bills of Lading and Proofs of Delivery.
Excellence in Distributed Capture: Taylor, Bean & Whitaker
Taylor, Bean & Whitaker Mortgage Corp. (TBW), based in
Ocala, Fla., has grown rapidly from a small-town retail mortgage firm to a top
10 national wholesale mortgage lender. Founded in 1982, TBW today loans more
than $25 billion to community banks and independent mortgage brokers across the
United States annually and has nearly $5 billion in assets. In 2007, TBW
expanded its state-of-the-art distributed scanning and capture system with
Datacap Taskmaster. It now scans more than 300,000 pages a day, which has
contributed to TBW's leadership reputation and propelled its growth.
Excellence in Forms Processing: Virginia Tax
Since 2001, the Virginia Department of Taxation has been
recognized as an innovator utilizing technology to improve the efficiency of
state tax return processing. With Taskmaster installed by Datacap integrator
CGI, Virginia has nearly doubled data entry productivity and in 2007 pushed
auto-capture of tax returns to 84%. In addition, Virginia was one of the first
states to implement two dimensional (2-D) barcode capture capabilities to
further automate the processing of about two million tax returns annually.
Excellence in Innovation: Kuehne + Nagel Canada
Kuehne + Nagel is one of the top three transportation companies
in the world, providing sea freight, airfreight, rail and road, and contract
logistics. Based in Mississauga, Ontario, Kuehne + Nagel Canada is the first
division to adopt customs invoice automation. Chosen for Excellence in
Innovation 2007, Kuehne + Nagel, working closely with Datacap partner Applied
Docs, extended the capabilities of Datacap Taskmaster to identify and capture
complex line items on commercial invoices that can be up to 100 pages long.
Datacap Partner Excellence Awards
As a channel organization, Datacap's success depends on having capable and
proactive Channel Partners. While many of our partners in 2007 enjoyed success,
Datacap selected five Channel Partners to reward for their commitment and drive
to satisfy customers.
"Each of our partners has helped us to push Taskmaster's capabilities into new
areas either by designing new applications or integrating Taskmaster into new
powerful solutions," said Scott Blau, Datacap CEO.
The 2007 Partner Excellence Award Winners:
Applied Docs of Almomte, Ontario provides document
management solutions for the transportation industry. In 2007, working closely
with Datacap, Applied Docs implemented a solution for Kuehne + Nagel Canada
that automates customs information capture from commercial invoices. A
demanding application, the Kuehne + Nagel solution requires accurate capture of
line items, from dissimilar documents which can contain hundreds or even
thousands of lines of data, with 7 plus fields per line. The results include
dramatic productivity and time savings for Kuehne + Nagel. This allows Kuehne +
Nagel to grow their business at a much lower cost while improving their
customer response times.
Integrator CGI has combined Taskmaster with its
Sovera solutions for healthcare, delivering capture of patient medical records
and Accounts Payable documents. Sovera ® HIM and Sovera ® AP solutions
utilizing Taskmaster enable hospitals to convert paper documents into
electronic records; provide more efficient and accurate document indexing than
one person could accomplish; decrease errors; and shorten document cycle time.
Earlier this year, Sovera-Datacap solutions were implemented at Memorial
Hermann Healthcare System, Health Management Associates (HMA) and St. Vincent's
Indianapolis Hospital. At one customer site, the Sovera and Taskmaster solution
has generated a reduction in scan and indexing staff from 11 to six. It also
enables nearly half of the client's paper medical records to be processed
without human intervention.
Cutting Edge Solutions (CES), Kansas City, has
leveraged its mastery of Datacap Rules and expertise in Taskmaster
implementations to exceed the expectations of a roster of customers, including
KC Life, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, and Murphy-Hoffman, among others.
The CES team has continually taken the lead on development and deployment of
new applications, including a capture Web Service that runs inside OnBase from
Hyland Software, Datacap Wordfire auto classification software, and Visioneer
OneTouch. CES' unique technical skills and sense of fun have helped them to
build a loyal community of customers that grows exponentially year to year.
Torrential Data of Virginia Beach, Virginia had
previously integrated its high volume document management toolkit, known as
Datahaven TM , with Exel Transportation Services' custom accounting application
to help Exel manage the paper-intensive accounting transactions of its contract
logistics and freight management business. In late 2006, Torrential Data
approached Datacap to add Datacap's forms processing technology to improve
further on the efficiency of the integrated Datahaven solution. In 2007,
Torrential Data added Taskmaster for Invoices to the solution to help Exel
process - on a daily basis - up to 6,000 pages of invoices plus up to 7,000
pages of backup documentation related to these invoices. Torrential Data
fashioned a high volume, fully-integrated solution with advanced data capture
functionality that has enabled Exel to reduce its administrative headcount and
streamline its document cycle times from 10 days to five. As a result, Exel
projects its return on investment will reach 218% within five years.
Electronic Knowledge Interchange
(EKI) prides itself on developing robust document management solutions for
corporate and governmental organizations. In 2007, EKI completed its innovative
application for the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) as part of the
Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI). CRI is a federally-funded program to aid
cities in increasing their capacity to deliver medicines and medical supplies
during a large-scale public health emergency. EKI's solution leveraged
Taskmaster to capture and store data on citywide dispensing of medications to
the three million people in Chicago. In addition, EKI implemented a large
Accounts Payable capture solution for Goodyear Tire, integrating Taskmaster for
Invoices with IBM/FileNet and SAP.
