New
Feature: Taskmaster Fingerprint Service
Meeting The
Need For Speed
The Fingerprint is
Datacap’s innovation for storing data locations and business rules
for specific document types. For example, each vendor in an Accounts Payable application is represented
with a Fingerprint that “remembers” the vendor ID number, remit address, and
all the locations for key data on their invoice, including
the formatting and column headers for line item details.
Whenever Taskmaster begins processing a
batch, it loads up the Fingerprint Library to check each new image
for matches. If it doesn’t find a match, the Verify Operator can
populate the fields once, using data location rules and Click N Key,
and then initiate a new Fingerprint, which will automate data entry
the next time that vendor submits an invoice.
Now Datacap adds a new improvement to
speed performance, called the Fingerprint Service. It was developed
in support of our customers who have thousands of Fingerprints in
their library, and require faster throughput.
The Fingerprint Service provides two
distinct benefits: First, the Fingerprint Service loads the
Fingerprint Library only once when the first batch of documents is
processed, rather than for each batch. Second, Fingerprints are
matched faster, speeding processing of batches of images of any
size.
When do benefits become apparent? The
threshold for considering the service begins at 3,000 to 4,000
fingerprints. Of course, there are other considerations such as the
daily volume. If the processing volume is low, even with a large
number of fingerprints, the speed of processing may not be an issue.
Conversely, a high processing volume with a moderate number of
fingerprints, say 1000, would benefit by using the Fingerprint
service.
The Taskmaster Fingerprint Service is an
optional Taskmaster component that can be purchased separately and incorporated into your
Taskmaster 7.1, or 7.5 environment. Microsoft IIS is required for
the service.

Taskmaster for Medical Claims 7.5 Now Available
All the improvements of Taskmaster 7.5 are now integrated
into Taskmaster for Medical Claims. While it functions much as previous versions of MClaims, behind
the scenes, the architecture is improved for better performance and stability.
The processing rules in Taskmaster for Medical
Claims 7.5 are implemented in Rulemanager, in .RRA format with a
Rules database. Datacap Studio is not used in this version. CMS 1500
and UB04 claims are processed in separate workflows. Individual
workflows are also implemented for red dropout and black claims.
They must be scanned in separate batches in this release.
The CMS 1500 workflow handles the current form for
professional health services alongside the previous version of the
form (the HCFA 1500). The UB04 workflow no longer handles the
outdated UB92 forms. A generic 837 EDI export format is included.
Licensing of the 837 export is required for production use.
This release captures and
verifies the NPI (National Provider Identifier) fields and
service line information fields. Details on other enhancements
are in the release notes. For more information or to
purchase Taskmaster for Medical Claims 7.5, please contact your Datacap
Sales Manager or Datacap reseller. |

Datacap and ABBYY Step Up
Partnership
Abbyy Finereader To Ship Standard With
Taskmaster
One of the core beliefs at
Datacap is that users should have a choice of the best available
document processing technologies. That includes recognition. There
are many factors in getting good recognition results, including different
data types (machine print versus handprint), document types (invoices versus tax
returns), and languages; even the number of documents in
a batch will impact how well a recognition engine
performs.
Datacap’s Rules Architecture makes it
straightforward to test different recognition engines on different
documents, even different fields within a document. Using
Recognition Actions, a user can “test drive” engines from Nuance,
Oce, ABBYY, Kadmos and Parascript, and see for themselves how well
each engine performs.
Datacap has offered the ABBYY Finereader engine for
several years, as an optional recognition engine in Taskmaster -
meaning that it is available as an add-on for an additional license
fee. Due to its speed and stability, especially with high volumes, a
number of customers have opted to use ABBYY Finereader in Taskmaster
for such applications as full page recognition and PDF conversion.
Now, Datacap announces that the ABBYY Finereader
engine will be Taskmaster standard recognition actions and can
be used by itself or with other recognition engines with “voting”
between the two engines to increase accuracy even further. ABBYY
Finereader will begin shipping as part of Datacap Taskmaster 7.5
SP1, due for General Release later in the First Quarter 2009.
