Datacap Rulerunner Quattro now in
General Availability
Take Full Advantage
of Multi-Core Processors to Supercharge Your Rules
Engine
The
promise of productivity software, like Datacap capture solutions, is
to deliver to users an extra edge in performance and cost
savings, and, therefore, enhance competitiveness. For example, the
new generation of dual and quad core processors presents an excellent opportunity
to deliver significantly improved performance without a
large investment in hardware. Datacap is proud to unveils its
newest product, Rulerunner Quattro, which goes into General
Availability (GA) August 3.
As users of Datacap
software know, Taskmaster's procedural rules engine,
Rulerunner, controls all the background tasks of capture, such as
the image processing, recognition, validations and export
formatting. When document volumes rise to the upper levels of a
system's processing power, users may decide to purchase extra
hardware or install virtualization software to increase processing
speed and handle the overflow.
Process
Four Times Faster!
Now, Datacap users can choose Rulerunner
Quattro, an option to the Rulerunner rules engine, which takes
advantage of multi-core and multi-processor computers, and allows
users to implement multiple instances of Rulerunner on the same
hardware for faster throughput.
Rulerunner Quattro
offers Taskmaster users the flexibility to meet their particular
processing needs. For example, a system could be set up to add extra
recognition power, if required, without an investment in additional
hardware. Or a system could be configured so that recognition is
driven by one core, validations on another and export formatting on
another, which also delivers enhanced performance.
Benchmarking tests
for recognition using Taskmaster OCR/S and ICR/C showed that,
with either engine, the speed improvement was approximately
equal to the number of processors available. In the time it
normally takes to process one batch of documents, Rulerunner Quattro
completes as
many batches as there are processors available, up
to four.
Rulerunner Quattro runs on Microsoft
Operating systems, XP, Vista, Server 2003 and 2008.

Datacap FastDoc Capture On Track For Release in
Fall 2009
New Product Automates Document ID and Indexing
with Recognition at Entry level
Price
FastDoc Capture is
Datacap's new document capture solution that applies innovations
developed for invoice capture to the task of automating indexing. It
is the first recognition-assisted indexing solution that requires no
complicated set-up, at a price point comparable to capture products
with no recognition.
Datacap FastDoc
Capture is something new for Datacap. It's the first product that
runs independent of Datacap's flagship data and document capture
platform Taskmaster. It installs as a stand-alone client, and while
it is driven by rules like Taskmaster, FastDoc Capture is not
designed for customization.
"There is a huge need
for a simple solution that can automatically populate fields from a
document for indexing purposes only, supported by a some simple
validations," says Datacap Product Marketing Manager Tom Simalchik. "FastDoc Capture will be
the first solution to deliver sophisticated recognition and document ID at an
extremely affordable price."
FastDoc Capture
will open new markets for Datacap, which has traditionally focused
on complex, high volume applications. To meet the needs of the
growing market for a basic recognition product, FastDoc Capture has
been designed with simplicity and ease of use. Its slick new
interface, enables scanning, document separation, and verfication
all in one screen. FastDoc automates document ID, using Datacap's
innovative "fingerprint" technology, and it's very easy to set up
new document types and fields.

FastDoc Capture Beta Test Program Ready To Launch
Still Seeking a Few More Users to Test
Datacap's New Indexing Solution
So far, the response to a call for beta testers has been
healthy, but Datacap is seeking additional end users, particularly in government
and healthcare, to assure that we test a broad variety of
document types and business processes. The Beta Test Program is scheduled
to commence by mid August and continue through the month.
FastDoc Capture requires no
programming to set up and runs completely on a single client. You do
not need to install Taskmaster; FastDoc is completely independent of
Taskmaster. If you wish to test FastDoc with SharePoint, there will
be some set-up of the tables, but Sharepoint integration is not
required to be a FastDoc Beta tester.
Beta testers must be existing
Datacap customers with up-to-date maintenance agreements or
certified Datacap Channel partners. If approved, you will be asked
to run FastDoc Capture for a period of several weeks, and then
report findings to Datacap in a simple form. As thanks, beta testers
will receive a free copy of FastDoc Capture with maintenance for one
year.

Datacap Website Relaunch Coming in
August
New Look and Feel with Easier
Navigation
Datacap has been
busy this summer redesigning its website to reflect a more
contemporary look as well as improve navigation for the wide variety
of visitors we receive.
Because so many
different industries are now evaluating capture systems, the Datacap
site needs to speak to the many "languages" of capture, from
accounts payable to claims processing to medical records to high
speed indexing and all the other permutations of document
processing. Also, there continue to be many newcomers to capture who
are looking to orient themselves to the concepts and terms and
understand how capture can help their organization.
One of the goals of
the new site design is to quickly identify what a visitor is looking
for and deliver them to the information in a single click. A wide
variety of applications, covering a large selection of industries,
will be represented with supporting case studies, webinars, white
papers and product information.
Datacap Channel
Partners will be able to quickly log-in to the Channel Partner site
and Datacap customers will be able to easily access product
information and webinar demonstrations, just as you can today.
The new site boasts a cleaner, simpler
look, with an emphasis on more empty space, dynamic menus and
attractive graphics. Datacap is currently performing QA on the new
site and adding the finishing touches with plans to launch in the
first half of August. We hope you find it useful! |
