1. What is Rulerunner Quattro?
Rulerunner Quattro is an option to Taskmaster 7.5 that uses virtualization to enable Taskmaster Rulerunner to take advantage of multiprocessor systems. The virtual recognition machine in Rulerunner Quattro can simultaneously process of up to four batches of document images on a single multiprocessor equipped computer. 2. What are the benefits of using Rulerunner Quattro?
Rulerunner Quattro provides significant benefits to both the department processing documents and the organization’s IT department. With Rulerunner Quattro you will:
- Complete your document processing work faster. Faster turn-around of documents such as claims, contracts, tax returns and invoices improves responsiveness and shortens capture cycle times.
- Reduce the number of physical computers dedicated to the capture process. One multi-core computer can effectively replace and cost less than multiple single-processor computers delivering a server-room/IT "friendly" solution
- Reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by improving utilization of existing IT assets and IT staff efficiency. The small hardware and software footprint of Rulerunner Quattro is less expensive than alternative virtualization solutions.
3. What versions of Datacap software are supported by Rulerunner Quattro?
Rulerunner Quattro requires Taskmaster 7.5, the current production release of Taskmaster. For each of the multiprocessors that will be running recognition a license for recognition software is required. Datacap offers several special Rulerunner Quattro packages that include recognition software for both OCR, for reading typed characters, and ICR for reading hand print characters.
Datacap licenses the best recognition software from third-party companies and imbeds the software with Taskmaster. A recognition software license is required by the manufacturer for each processor that runs the software. Therefore, a dual core processor that may run recognition on both processors requires two recognition licenses. Four licenses are required for a quad core system.
5. Are there any current promotions or discounts for Rulerunner Quattro?
Yes. Until December 31, 2008 Datacap is offering a discount of 25% for Rulerunner Quattro. In addition, Datacap is offering two special packages:
- Quattro 100: Quattro with recognition software: 4 ScanSoft OCR/S & 4 Recostar ICR/C (100 cps) with voting

In order to utilize Rulerunner Quattro an application must be running with Taskmaster 7.5. Datacap Services and our partners can assist a customer in upgrading to Taskmaster 7.5 so they can take advantage of the power of Rulerunner Quattro.
7. I own Paper Keyboard. How do I upgrade to Rulerunner Quattro?
The older Paper Keyboard applications must be replaced with a Taskmaster 7.5 application in order to take advantage of Rulerunner Quattro. The functionality of the replacement Taskmaster application can match that of Paper Keyboard.
8. How do I optimize my Rulerunner Quattro configuration so I am always running at peak efficiency?
Rulerunner Quattro will always look to fully utilize all available processors to run your applications at peak efficiency. There is nothing you need to do other than provide enough document processing work to keep your multiprocessor working at full throttle.
9. What are the technical requirements?
Rulerunner Quattro requires Taskmaster 7.5 and a multiprocessor system. A multiprocessor system has two or more CPUs within a single computer system. These processors can be multiple single-cores, multi-core, or hyper threaded. Any dual core or quad core system is fine. A single CPU Pentium Four with hyper threading acts as a dual core/CPU system.

11. How much faster will my batches of documents be processed with Rulerunner Quattro?
Datacap has performed benchmark testing for character recognition, one of the most CPU intensive tasks performed by Rulerunner. We can report the following results:
- Single processor: Runs 20 – 30% faster than standard Taskmaster 7.5 Rulerunner due to overall optimization within Rulerunner Quattro.
- Dual CPU/core: Up to 2.5 times faster than Taskmaster 7.5 Rulerunner. In other words, you can perform recognition on 2+ batches of documents in the same time one batch is normally processed.
- Quad CPU/core: Up to 4.4 times faster than Taskmaster 7.5 Rulerunner. In other words, you can perform recognition on 4+ batches of documents in the same time one batch is normally processed.
